Boutique Hotel in Mexico City: What a Stay at Nima Is Like, From Arrival to the Last Morning

October 27, 2026

Picture a two-night stay at Nima. The house went up in the late nineteenth century, it was the home of the historian Guillermo Tovar de Teresa, and today, restored with respect for its past, it is a boutique hotel in Roma Norte with four rooms. This post follows it in order, from arrival to the last morning: who each room is named for, where each balcony looks, where breakfast is served and where you watch the sun go down.

‍

Arrival: a house before a hotel

‍

Nima feels like a lived-in house before it feels like a hotel. The original details sit alongside a quiet, contemporary design, and the scale does the rest: with four rooms, you learn the house quickly.

‍

If you're coming from the airport, you can ask for a private transfer to the house; it's requested on the Enhance Your Stay page. Inside, you get to know the house by climbing its staircases. In the De la Lama room, on the third floor, that climb happens while your hosts take care of your luggage.

‍

Four rooms, four stories

‍

Each name recalls someone who passed through the house. All four rooms have a king-size bed, sleep up to two adults and include breakfast. What changes is the story and where the balcony looks.

‍

De la Lama is a Deluxe room on the third floor, a few steps from the terrace. It carries the name of José G. De la Lama, who led the restoration of the house, and from its window you see the garden dome.

‍

Lebreton, an Executive room, takes its name from a French traveler who decided to stay, for the country and for a woman. Its interior balcony opens onto the house, and the view is a quiet one.

‍

Loaeza, also Executive, remembers the writer Guadalupe Loaeza, who lived within these walls for years. Wood marks the room and, from the interior balcony, you can see the cupola that spreads natural light through the whole house. We tell her story in Inspiring Women.

‍

Tovar y de Teresa is the suite, and it honors the historian and art collector who lived here. It's the only room with a balcony onto the street: from there you watch the day go by.

‍

The night: what's inside the room

‍

The rooms have Egyptian cotton sheets, blackout curtains, air conditioning and free WiFi. If you'd like to close the day more slowly, in Relaxation Rituals After a Day Exploring Mexico City we cover the hydrotherapy circuit at the spa, the scents for the room and the pillow menu.

‍

The morning: breakfast in the Solarium

‍

Breakfast is included and served inside the house. You have it in the Solarium, the brightest part of Nima: an open, calm place to read, rest or watch the light move while you eat. Nima Café lives there, with its menu and hours, and our guide to brunch in Mexico City says more about what it's like.

‍

The afternoon: Roma on foot and back to the terrace

‍

The Roma neighborhood took shape around 1903 as a residential zone for the Porfirian elite, and it still keeps more than a thousand historic buildings. Among them are the Casa de las Brujas, the Edificio Balmori, the Parroquia de la Sagrada Familia and a replica of the Cibeles Fountain. The neighborhood is easy to walk. For more ideas, Roma Norte, Mexico City's most elegant neighborhood gathers its history, art and food.

‍

On your return, the terrace is waiting with a coffee or the honesty bar. It's a good corner for sharing a drink or watching the sunset.

‍

Before you go

‍

The Michelin Guide lists Nima among its One Key hotels. It's a recognition that counts, though what you remember on the way back is something else: with four rooms, you can know the whole house in a single stay, and that is part of its character. We tell the story of the restoration that made it possible in Living Heritage.
